From digital twins to real hardware: SPiN and TestNest advance modular spacecraft testing

On August 17th and 18th, SPiN welcomed the TestNest team to its Luxembourg facilities for a collaborative technical session


During the visit, SPiN supported TestNest in conducting FlatSat tests using SPiN’s Modular Avionics Test Bench (MATB), providing a practical environment for connecting, testing, and validating spacecraft components. 


The teams tested the Gyroscope and Sun Sensor both independently and in mission scenarios, conducting joint troubleshooting, timing checks and oscilloscope measurements. By integrating the devices with MA61C, SPiN’s intelligent plug-and-play data node, TestNest could compare its digital twins with real hardware, identify differences in their responses and refine the models for more accurate and reliable simulations. The teams also explored a mission scenario involving a reaction wheel and sun sensor, demonstrating the potential of modular testing for realistic spacecraft operations.

The TestNest delegation included Co-Founder & CEO Nikica Srezoski; Co-Founder & CTO Vlatko Markovikj; and Co-Founder & CIO Slobodanka Shopova. They worked alongside SPiN’s representatives: Vishal Singh, Senior CubeSat System Engineer; Carlos Rodríguez, Sales Engineer; and David Diaz, CubeSat System Engineer.


It was a highly engaging visit that strengthened the collaboration between SPiN and TestNest, fostered knowledge exchange and defined the next steps for development.
